Dr. Christine Luzuriaga, M.Sc., O.D., F.A.A.O has over 13 years of experience treating ocular disease, fitting speciality contact lenses, and providing routine eye care. As of July 2023, she is thrilled to be back practicing at home, in Carroll County.
She graduated as a Calhoun Honors Scholar from Clemson University in 2006 with a degree in public health sciences. She then attended The New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA, where she completed a dual degree program receiving a Masters of Science in Vision Sciences and a Doctorate of Optometry, graduating in 2010. Dr. Luzuriaga then expanded her training in ocular disease during a residency program at the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Thereafter, she completed the rigorous requirements to become a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Luzuriaga views each patient as a unique individual who deserves to be respected and have their concerns heard. She enjoys working alongside patients to develop a treatment plan that works for their specific needs and within their lifestyle. To this end, she consistently pursues continuing education opportunities so that she can provide the best care possible. Although she enjoys treating most eye conditions, she has specific interests in treating dry eye, Fuch’s dystrophy, keratoconus, uveitis, glaucoma, and fitting specialty contact lenses.
She lives in Carroll County with her husband and two children where she enjoys baking, cooking, being involved in her church, and spending time with her family and friends.
Dr. Christina Antonopoulos obtained her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. She completed an internship in the Department of Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School and an Ophthalmology Residency at the W.K. Kellogg Eye Center at the University of Michigan. Dr. Antonopoulos completed her vitreoretinal surgical fellowship in the Department of Ophthalmology at Boston University Medical Center.
Dr. Antonopoulos is Board-Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. She is the author of several peer-reviewed publications and holds particular clinical interest in diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, uveitis and surgical disease of the retina and vitreous.
